$2,800.00

Inspired by traditional Chinoiserie Painting, “Long Time No Sea” is a perfect mix of coastal birds. This original Chinoiserie art includes the Tricolored Heron, Least Bittern and the gorgeous Sandhill Crane that pose perfectly on various branches and rustic rocks.

Sandhill cranes have an incredible wingspan of 5-7 feet wide! When they fly south for the winter they soar together in flocks of over 10,000 birds! Also, native to the southern US Caribbean, South America and Gulf of Mexico is the gorgeous blue and purple Tricolored heron. Together with these larger coastal birds is the Least Bittern, which is the smallest heron in the world. It’s beautiful striped marking and bright beak keep good company with the other water birds in the painting.

The soft translucent blue leaves of the tree and the whimsical butterfly give the piece a light airy feel. Each of these shorebirds are painted in a Modern Chinoiserie chic style. Chinoiserie painting is a considered a European interpretation of East Asian decorative arts. However, Allison puts her lighter touch on her pieces. She paints in a looser style with a more modern palette. Additionally, she is inspired by the scientific illustrations of James Audubon. Her signature tiny brushstrokes used for feathers and butterfly wings will have you looking closely again and again. With this in mind, consider its’ companion piece “I’ve Never Been More Shore” with even more coastal bird friends.
